Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Season Signal collects during the beta and how that information is used to deliver and maintain your personalized calendar.
Effective September 17, 20261. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Season Signal website, personalized calendar feeds, customer accounts, beta emails, billing tools, and feedback tools. Season Signal is currently offered as a public beta focused on Oregon hunting, fishing, crabbing, and clamming dates.
2. Information we collect
- Contact information: the email address you use to join the beta or create an account, plus a name if you choose to provide one.
- Calendar preferences: the animals, species, hunt areas, fishing or shellfish zones, methods, youth dates, and deadline options you select.
- Service activity: when your calendar was created or updated, whether the email provider accepted the setup email, the delivery status of regulation alerts, your alert preferences, and the last time a calendar application requested your feed.
- Account and preference information: email verification status, account sessions, security events, regulation alert choices, and whether you opted into optional product updates.
- Feedback: the category, message, calendar event reference, and calendar selections attached when you report an issue.
- Technical information: standard request and security data that may be processed by our hosting, email, and calendar-service providers, such as IP address, browser or device details, and request logs.
Season Signal does not collect payment-card information during the free beta. We do not ask for precise location, a hunting-license number, or government identification.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- create, deliver, and update your personalized calendar feed;
- verify your email, provide secure account access, and save account information;
- send the calendar setup email you request;
- send confirmed regulation-change alerts associated with your connected calendar selections;
- save changes made through your private management link;
- monitor calendar delivery and troubleshoot syncing problems;
- review accuracy reports and improve the beta; and
- protect the service from abuse and comply with legal obligations.
4. When information is shared
We share information only as needed to operate the service. That can include website hosting and database providers, Resend for delivery of setup, account-access, and regulation-alert emails, Stripe for hosted billing services after paid plans are introduced, and the calendar provider you choose to receive your subscription feed. Those providers process information under their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service or its users, or as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the business. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
5. Calendar links and account security
Your calendar-feed and legacy management links act like private access keys. Keep them private and contact us if you believe one has been exposed. Season Signal stores a one-way hash of the feed token used to locate your calendar record. Account sign-in links expire, work once, and create a time-limited browser session represented by a secure cookie. We store one-way hashes of sign-in and session tokens rather than the tokens themselves.
6. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the beta, maintain your calendar, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We create access-restricted backup copies for recovery and security. Daily backups are ordinarily retained for seven days and weekly backups for four weeks. Information deleted from the live service may remain in a backup until that backup rotates out, but restored data is subject to prior verified deletion requests before it is returned to service.
7. Your choices
You can use the account area or a legacy private management link to change calendar selections, and remove the calendar subscription through your calendar app. The account area and every regulation-alert email let you turn off alerts for one selected species or unsubscribe from all regulation alerts. You can separately opt into or out of product updates. Turning off email alerts does not remove or stop your subscribed calendar feed.
To ask for access, correction, or deletion of your Season Signal information, open the feedback link in your calendar setup email, choose “Privacy or deletion request,” and describe your request. We may need to verify that the request relates to your email or feed.
8. Children
Season Signal is not directed to children under 13. An adult adding youth-hunt dates should use the adult’s own email address. If you believe a child provided personal information directly, contact us through the feedback process described above.
9. Changes and questions
We may update this policy as the beta changes. The effective date at the top will be revised when material changes are published. For privacy questions, use the feedback link included in your calendar setup email and select “Privacy or deletion request.”
